Meet M

Who are you really talking to when you book with M Events? It’s me, Emma Spick—and, rest assured, I know what makes a great party

I’ve worked as an event manager since 2012, executing some of the biggest, slickest and most glam productions on Perth’s social calendar.

With a personal passion for interior styling and design, it was always the event styling that I loved most. Seeing guests walk in and whisper “Oh, wow!” under their breath—that’s what I live for!

While planning an event in 2015, I noticed that Perth lacked the cool, contemporary furniture options that were available to hire on the East coast.

Events in Sydney and Melbourne looked like luxe Vogue Living spreads, while those in Perth were a little stale in comparison.

I explored the idea of importing custom furniture… and a few months later, quit my fulltime job to throw everything into filling this gap in the WA market with the launch of M Event Hire.

My husband Harley’s background in advertising and creative agencies saw him immediately ‘hired’ as the M Event Hire graphic designer… as well as Head Delivery Guy, whether he liked it or not!

After that, things got a bit crazy:

Guess what? We’re pregnant!

Fly to China, three months pregnant, to finalise
my first ever furniture order.

Aug 2016

The first container of M Event Hire furniture arrives in Perth,
and we’re officially in business!

Sep 2016

Our furniture features at the wedding of our very first clients,
kicking off the 16/17 spring/summer season
with M Event Hire pieces booked LITERALLY every weekend.

She’s here! Baby girl Mila is born

A brand new baby with a brand new business?
It might sound crazy, but I loved every moment.

Within 12 months I moved M Event Hire to a bigger warehouse, and purchased our own delivery truck just to keep up with demand. In our second year we moved to an even bigger warehouse in Osborne Park, which is our current HQ.
M Event Hire is now considered a top tier event company in Perth, and we have established truly special relationships with a network of WA’s most incredible florists, stylists, corporates and event companies. We pride ourselves on delivering a personalised service for every event, no matter how big or small.
No matter how much M Event Hire grows over the years, it will still be my passion and expertise that drives the business. It will still be me, Em, helping bring the joy, personality and cool-factor to your special occasion.
